President's Corner

On behalf of our Volunteer Board and Committee Members, I am pleased to announce registration is open for the 2021 season.  I know we are all doing our best during this strange time, and I look forward to when we can gather at the fields to enjoy the excitement of baseball and games here in Lafayette.  Our mission remains to bring a positive experience based on our great American pastime to more than 700 youth in the Lafayette area.

President, LLL

In Remembrance - Leo Cellura

Lafayette Little League joins our entire community in sending our love and support to the Cellura family.

Close family friends have also started a memorial foundation.  Per the GoFundMe page: Leo "lived only 10 short years, but he was the best parts of all of us:  inclusive, selfless, and empathetic.

Leo was a champion of diversity—which came from his own diverse background and from having to reinvent himself as he grew up among multiple cultures and in multiple countries. Even at a young age, Leo was all about defusing tense situations with kindness and supporting people who need help. He lived his whole life this way and he touched so many people as a result.

Although the Celluras are only starting to adjust to their devastating loss, they also hope to honor Leo’s memory and inspire others to live as their sweet boy did. The Live Like Leo Memorial Foundation is founded on the very principles Leo embodied:  kindness, selflessness, and empathy. It will not reward young people based on their “accomplishments,” but will instead seek to build and support decent humans who care for others before themselves—and hopefully create whole communities of young people who live like Leo did.

Please join us in supporting their mission by donating to the Live Like Leo Foundation fund. All funds raised will be used only for the creation, funding, and support of this Memorial Foundation."

PLEASE DO SUPPORT IF YOU"RE ABLE.  Any amount helps.  DONATE HERE:  https://www.gofundme.com/f/leo-cellura-memorial-scholarship-fund

SUPPORT LAFAYETTE LITTLE LEAGUE CHALLENGER FAMILY

Lafayette Little League sadly lost a strong supporter of its Challenger program with the recent passing of Challenger parent Diane Hong.  The mother of a current Challenger player, Diane's family has been involved with the program for several years.  Diane always helped at practice with calm patience, a positive spirit and a warm smile.  She will be greatly missed by the Challenger program and the entire Lafayette Little League Community.

Friends have established a GoFundMe account for the family's children, please support them here:

LLL CELEBRATES ALEX McLIN

On Saturday, February 9, 2019 the Lafayette Little League community gathered to celebrate the courageous and inspirational life of Lafayette Little League player Alex McLin.

A member of the 2016 Majors Champion Nationals, Alex's heroic battle against bone cancer epitomized the courage and determination that made Alex a champion on the baseball field.  His courage made him an inspiration to the entire Lafayette Little League community.  In 2018 Lafayette Little League's summer tournament was renamed the Alex McLin Courage Classic in his honor.
